Where HXGN17-12 fits
HXGN17-12 is ring-main switchgear using a vacuum load-switch arrangement. It is intended for urban distribution and transformer-feeder applications. The chosen load switch, fuse combination and earthing/isolation arrangement determine the equipment’s actual switching and protection duties.

Vacuum load-switch construction
Vacuum load-switch arrangements are described for the series. The required load-switching duty must be distinguished from the duties of a circuit breaker.

The load-switch operating mechanism uses a spring arrangement, with manual or electric operation selected for the project.

Manual earthing and isolation
Earthing and isolation functions use their specified operating mechanisms. The interlocking arrangement forms part of the complete unit configuration.

Fuse coordination
Where a fused arrangement is required, fuse rating and operating coordination are selected with the transformer and network duty. The switch and fuse should be treated as a matched protection assembly.
