APPLICATION & DUTY

Where SC(B)12 wound core fits

The SC(B)12 three-dimensional wound-core transformer combines resin-cast windings with a continuous wound magnetic-core structure. It is intended for building and infrastructure distribution where a dry-type transformer is specified. The wound-core construction is a defining part of the product and should be included in the enquiry and order description.

Construction & operating functions

DETAIL / 01

Continuous wound magnetic path

The three-dimensional core uses wound silicon-steel material rather than a conventional stacked-core arrangement. Its continuous magnetic path is a central construction feature; the actual no-load loss is identified by the selected rating in the table.

DETAIL / 02

Circular core cross-section

The core construction uses circular cross-sections. The associated winding and support arrangement should be considered as a complete assembly when reviewing dimensions, lifting access and replacement suitability.

DETAIL / 03

Vacuum-cast resin insulation

Resin is mixed and degassed before casting around the windings. The resulting cast body provides winding insulation, while reinforcing materials within the resin structure contribute to mechanical integrity.

DETAIL / 04

Winding reinforcement

Reinforcing insulation is incorporated around the cast winding structure. Electrical rating, insulation requirements and the specified test programme must be agreed for the delivered configuration.

DETAIL / 05

Dedicated wound-core performance data

The table contains 11 ratings from 250 to 2,500 kVA. The 250–500 kVA entries use 4% impedance, while the 630–2,500 kVA entries use 6%. Both the core version and the impedance belong in the technical schedule.

SPECIFICATION & INTEGRATIONReview transformer installation

Match the selected transformer to the room layout, terminal arrangement, cooling clearances and approved drawings.

Factory preparation photograph · reference assembly
Voltage combination
Listed HV options are 10, 6.3 and 6 kV; LV is 0.4 kV. Specify the required operating frequency and actual network voltage.
Connection and taps
Dyn11 and Yyn0 are listed, with ±5% or ±2 × 2.5% tapping options. Select the required combination for the installation.
Loss and noise requirements
Use the table values as the rating reference. State any guaranteed loss, noise or partial-discharge limits that the project requires, together with test conditions.
Auxiliary equipment
Describe the enclosure, temperature-monitoring, alarm/trip and cooling requirements so the scope can be defined alongside the transformer.

Installation & connection checklist

  • Request the outline drawing for the selected capacity, not only a general product photograph.
  • Check terminal positions, cable/busbar entry and phase arrangement against the installation.
  • Provide available footprint, access opening, lifting restrictions and ventilation layout.
  • For replacement, submit the original nameplate, overall dimensions and terminal photographs.
  • For repeat supply, keep the same core version, rating, impedance and approved drawing revision in the purchase reference.
